Friedrich (Fred/Fritz) Herberger was born in Reinsheim, Baden-Wuerttemberg, Germany. In the late 1840s, Friedrich and three of his brothers emigrated to America. Frederick settled in Stearns County, in the terriroty of Minnesota. In 1857 he opened a brewery in Saint Cloud and eventually brought his brothers in to help. Herberger retired to a life of farming in 1877 after he sold the brewery to John Brick. The company eventually became the St.Cloud Brewing Co. after the repeal of Prohibition. Friedrich Herberger died on September 21st, 1904. He was 75 years of age.
