Jacob Conrad, Civil War Veteran and Founder of the Conrad Brewery in Philadelphia, was born in Bubenhausen, Bayern, Germany. He was a trained cooper and emigrated to America at age 21 in 1846. He settled in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania where in 1873 he established the Keystone State Brewery, a firm he ran for thirty-seven years. Conrad died on August 18, 1912 at the age of 87.
