Richard Zastrow was born in Württemberger Hof, Schwäbisch Hall in the Kingdom of Württemberg. In 1878 he founded a small brewery in New Haven, Connecticut which he ran for about 6 years with his brothers Albert and Julius. Zastrow died on December 23, 1915 at the age of 68
