After defaulting its creditors the Algiers Brewery in New Orleans, Louisiana was sold at auction by the sheriff. The six-year old brewery brought $86,419 and was purchased by St. Louis malt merchant Q. W. Tinker. Tinker renamed the firm the Security Brewing Company and reopened it a few weeks later. The brewery finally closed in 1913.
