John Goeggerle was born in Germany. He moved to America in the 1840s and settled in Beaver Dam, Wisconsin where he met and married Juliane Schwandt, an emigre from Prussia. The union was in the late 1850s and ultimately produced 13 children.
In 1856 Goeggerle and John and Joseph Patzlsperger purchased the brewery in town owned by Mike Biersack (also Biersach). When Joseph died in 1861 Goeggrle purchased both brothers shares and continued on as sole proprietor. He ran the brewery until he died on May 19th, 1902.
Upon his death Juliane took over operations for two years then sold in to Louis Ziegler in 1904. The brewery operated as the Ziegler brewery until 1950. It closed down for good in 1953.
