Maximilian Melsheimer was born in Germany. He emigrated to the United States in his early 30s and established himself in Denver, Colorado. In 1879 he purchased the Colorado Brewing Company after its former owner, Moritz Sigi, died. He renamed it the Milwaukee Brewery and guided it through 20 years of growth. In 1900 John Good joined the firm as partner and they continued as the Tivoli Brewery. Tivoli Beer soon became the dominant Denver brand. Max Melsheimer died on the 3rd of July 1913.
