Christian Aberle was born in Wurtemburg, Germany. He was trained there as a brewer, and after spending a couple of years in London, emigrated to America with his older brother Frederick, to find his fortune in the new world. The brothers first landed in Pierce County, Wisconsin, where Christian worked in a brewery for about a year. They then moved to northwestern Minnesota and opened a grocery store. In 1878 the brothers pooled their money and built a brewery in Alexandria. Despite their success, Frederick left the business in 1885 and moved to Boston. Christian operated the brewery as a sole proprietorship until 1895, when he sold the brewery to Walter R. Towgood. Aberle retired to a life of farming. Christian Aberle died on the 5th of March, 1922. He was 73 years of age.
