Fredericka Duchow was born in Prussia. She arrived somewhere around 1860 and married a brewer named Anton Muschal in Buffalo New York. The brewery was of small capacity. It was a residence with a saloon in front and a brew house in back. When Anton died in 1872 Fredericka took over the brewery while simultaneously managing five children.
In around 1874 she married Andrew Driskel, who was a saloon owner himself. With him she had four more kids. He moved in to the Muschal house, used Anton's equipment, and sold beer out the front room just like before. Andrew and Fredericka shared the brewing duties, while Andrew ran the saloon in the front room. This continued for about ten more years at which point, it appears, they retired. Fredericka Driskel died on June 25th 1894. She was 53 years of age.
