Tuesday, January 6, 1824 Johann Gottlieb Heileman
Johann Gottlieb Heileman, was born in Kirchheim, Wurttemberg, Germany. In 1858 he, with John Gund, founded of what would become the most successful and largest of the many breweries in western Wisconsin. Heileman died on February 19 1878 at age 54, an era when Lacrosse was still a muddy frontier town on the Mississippi river.
