Herman Weiss was born in Prussia. In 1907 he and his sons formed a brewery in Galveston, Texas. He became brewmaster of the Shiner Brewery in 1909 and was later hired away by the San Antonio Brewing Association as their brewmaster. Weiss died on the 19th of March, 1926 at the age of 70.
