Thursday, September 4, 1817   Valentine Kaufmann

Valentine Kaufmann was born in Schwarz, Kreis Alsfeld, Hessen-Darmstadt, Germany.  He was probably a trained brewer.  He was one of the first generations of German immigrants, coming to America on the 22nd of July 1941.   In 1846 he married Caroline Deufelmaer (Meyer) in Two Rivers Wisconsin.

The 1850 census shows him working in equal partnership with Edward Miller in a brewery in Two Rivers.  The 1860 census shows him working with an employee-brewer named Anton Kimmel, and his nephew Herman Meyer as a teamster.

Valentine Kaufmann died on the 8th of June 1863.  He was 45 years of age.
