Hans Birkhofer was born in Burgau, Landkreis Biberach, Germany. In 1901 he purchased a brewery in Alexandria Minnesota from the estate of Rudolph Wegener. He ran the firm under the former owner's name until Prohibition closed it down in 1920. Hans Birkhofer died on January 9th 1938. He was 77 years of age.
