Peter Schemm was born. In 1858 he joined Louis Hauser's brewery and helped steer the firm for 10 successful years. By 1868 Hauser was out of the business and Schemm continued on alone. He brought his son into the business in 1887. The brewery was purchased by the Robert Smith Ale Co. in 1908. While Schemm died in 1908, his brewery continued until National Prohibition forced its doors shut.
