Jean Pierré Sebastien Soulé was born in Auzas, Midi-Pyrénées, France. Not much is known of his early life or how he came to America but on the 2nd of December, 1854 he married Frédricka Dockter in New Orleans, and within ten years of that they had opened up a brewery in that city. His beer made a good impression on the citizens of New Orleans, and when he died just a few years later while in France on business, Frédricka continued the brewery uninterrupted for another 21 years.
