Edward A. Drewry was born in London, England. He was just 25 years of age in 1855 when he moved his young family to America. They settled in St. Paul, Minnesota. In 1860 Drewry partnered up with Real Estate speculator George Scotten to form a brewery at the foot of Dayton's Bluff. Four years later Scotten's interest was purchased by merchants Louis B. and Charles Grieg. In 1868 Drewry purchased the Greig brothers' share and brought his sons in to help run the growing business. The brewery thrived for decades under the patriarch's leadership, Edward giving direction to the business up until two days before his death on December 16th 1926. He was 97 years of age.
