Sebastian Dingeldein was born in Hesse-Darmstadt, Germany. He emigrated to America in 1867 at age 24. By 1869 he had married and settled down in St. Louis, Missouri. He was one of the original employees of Philip Finkman's South West Brewery. In 1882 Dingeldein purchased the brewery outright. The brewery's name was changed to Springfield Brewery in 1898, and then to Ozark Brewery in 1911. Sebastian Dingeldein died on March 24th, 1904. His brewery closed in 1913.
