Saturday, January 3, 1857 Edward Muessel
Edward Muessel was born in South Bend, Indiana. His father Christoph (Christopher) Muessel was an established brewer, and Edward and hois brothers learned the art of brewing by their father's guidance. Upon his Christopher's death in 1894 the sons managed the brewery, but it was soon established that Edward, the youngest, would be secretary (the highest office). Edward Muessel guided the brewery until Prohibition shut it down in 1920. He died in 1924. The brewery reopened in 1933 as Drewrys, Ltd., USA Inc. in 1936.
