Charles "Carl" Hasslinger was born in Traunstein, Bavaria. He came to this country in 1857 and traveled extensively before locating in Fort Atkinson in 1860. He established a brewery there, and ran it for two years, after which he removed to Jefferson, where he followed the same business. He may have come back to Fort Atkinson to rejoin his old firm later in the decade but records are unclear.
In 1867 he married Catherine Spangler, to whom was born six children.
Carl Hasslinger died on June 14th, 1903 at the age of 67.
