John Gottlieb Gluek was born in Minneapolis. He was the son of the Gluek Brewing Co. founder Johann Gottlieb Gluek. The younger Gluek rose in his father's firm to secretary and treasurer, guiding the company ably through the turn of the 19th century. John Gottlieb Gluek died in one of the first automobile accidents in Minnesota on August 19th, 1908. He was forty years of age.
