Christian Heuser was born in Rheinland, Prussia. He emigrated to America in the late 1840s and settled in St. Charles, Missouri where he founded the Spring Brewery. On the 13th of June, 1866 Heuser died and the brewery passed into the hands of his son-in-law Theodore Runge.
Runge ran the brewery for another 22 years before selling it to Jacob Moerschel in 1884. The brewery would in 1923 become the Fischbach Brewery and finally close out life as the Van Dyke Brewery in 1971.
