Peter Paul Breidt was born in Hanau, Germany. He emigrated to America with his father August Breidt in 1865. They settled with their extended family in Newark, New Jersey. In 1882 Peter partnered with William G. Laible to purchase the Eller & Beyer's City Brewery brewery in Newark. Breidt became sole proprietor of the brewery three years later and would run it as such until his death on the 10th of May, 1904.
