Philip R Ebling was born in Hesse-Darmstadt, Germany. In 1868 Philip and his brother William founded the Ebling Brewery in New York City. It would survive both of them by more than 50 years and come out of Prohibition stronger than ever. The brewery finally closed in 1950. Phil Ebling died on October 12, 1895.
