Rudolph Widmann was born in Ehringen-Böblingen, Württemberg, Germany. He arrived in New York at the age of 19 years, first staying in Utica, New York at the home of his brother (Carl?). Soon he moved to Lock Haven, Pennsylvania to work as a brewer in his other brother Jacob's Mountain Spring Brewery. Rudolph held that position until 1889, when he purchased the brewery outright from his now 61-year-old brother. The younger Widmann guided the brewery ably across the new century until his death on June 17, 1912.
