Friday, February 25, 1820   Philip Andrew Dauch

Philip Andrew Dauch was born in Baden-Württemberg, Germany.  He emigrated to America in July of 1841. In about 1850 Dauch established a brewery that reportedly made the first lager beer in the state of Ohio. The brewery on Sandusky Bay eventually became the Stang Brewing Company.

In 1865, because of business reversals, he gave up the brewery and moved to a farm near Venice. Five years later he moved to another farm and established a home on Bogart Road. He loved to read and was a progressive man. Philip Dauch died on the 9th of May, 1906.
