Michael Zix was born in Penntown, Indiana. Michael's father emigrated from Germany in 1848. He established himself in New Alsace, Indiana as a merchant, but became a brewer before Michael Turned 8 years old. Michael and his brothers were eventually brought in to the business. Michael took control of the brewery upon his father's retirement in 1874. His brother George assumed the reins in 1888. The brewery closed in 1893. Michael died on May 15, 1924.
