Specks of tarnish and areas of bubbly rust, as shown in the photos. Painted by Minnesota native duck stamp artist Les Kouba. One of the 17 scenes he painted for the Jacob Schmidt Brewing Company in the mid-1950s to promote their flagship beer. This painting continues his theme of joining the past and present in one image. It features a pioneer farmer breaking the ground with a single-blade plow and his team of horses. In the distance can be seen a modern farm with large silos and barns.
