According to an anonymous contributor, The De Pere Brewing Corp. was to be an off-shoot of the De Pere Beverage Company which existed across the street from the proposed brewery site. In July 1933 a room in the Beverage Company was cleared out and used while the Brewing Company headquarters was being built. After the repeal of Prohibition excavation began for a a three-story building to house the brewery. They hired a brewmaster and installed a bottling line in an adjacent building. They ordered bottles, cases and labels featuring Pioneer Beer. Meanwhile, the bottling company contracted beer through the Kewaunee Brewing Company in nearby Kewaunee, WI. By December money ran out and the project was abandoned. The brewery was never built, only a basement hole left in the lot where the brewery would have been. The Piooneer Beer label and some bottles still exist. The wooden cases were sold to the Farmers Brewery of Shawano and painted over with the Farmers Logo. No trace of any of the buildings used by the De Pere Beverage Company or the De Pere Brewing Corporation remains in downtiown De Pere.
