Francis Perot, of the Francis Perot and Son's Malting Company, is born. He is the fourth generation of pioneer Philadelphia brewers.

Francis Perot passed away at 89 years of age. In addition to being a prominent Philadelphia brewer, he built in 1818 one of the first stationary steam engines in America. The engine operated in his brewery for sixty years.

Thomas Morris Perot, the head of the Francis Perot and Son's Malting Company of Philadelphia, died at age 74 years. He was the 7th generation of his family to run the brewery at 314 Vine & New Streets. He was an active manager despite being blind for the last six years of his life.
