Georg Franz Orth was born in Germany. In 1868 he founded the brewery that would become the Bergdoll Brewing Company in Philadelphia, PA. He died on the 14th of May, 1909 at age 79 years.

John Martin Pfaender was born in Germany. He was one of the captains of the Philadelphia brewery that would in 1903 become Miss Emma C. Bergdoll's project.
