Friedrich Sigmund Haisch was born in Wildbad, Calw, Baden-Württemberg, Germany.  At age 26 he and Franziska Wilhelmine Luz were married and they emigreated to America after their first child was born in 1853. 

They settled in Mokena, Illinois but soon afterwards their son died.  They had another boy in 1854 but he died the following year.  By 1855 the family had relocated across the state, to the Mississippi River town of Rock Island where they had a daughter - who would live to be 80.

In 1858 The family had moved up river to Alma, Wisconsin, but also had a stake across the river in Wabasha, Pepin and Reads Landing, Minnesota as well.  Haisch was a hotelier, and he may have had properties in both states.  In 1867 F. Haisch appears in Edwards' Descriptive Gazetteer in Alma, Wisconsin as a brewer (which is common among hotel-keepers of the era), but the following year he died, on November 7th of 1868. He was 41 years of age.

This is probably the brewer who established the brewery commonly attributed to William Briggeboos.  Birggaboos's firm was down Main Street from John Hemrich's Brewery in Alma and Haisch's brother John Friedrich and Hemrich appear as neighbors in the 1860 Alma census.  Moreover in the 1875 census Agatha Haisch (John Friedrich's (ex?) wife) appears in Alma right next to Briggaboos.  There is probably some close familial or business relationship here between the Haisch and Briggaboos families.

Wilhelm "Bile Bregkebus" Briggeboos was born in Germany.  He emigrated to America at age 20 in 1854, and lived for a time in Galveston, Texas.  The next year he traveled up the Mississippi to Alma, Wisconsin.  There he worked in the wood business for a time until 1866 when he purchased the (Alma) City Brewery.   He brewed at that location until 1888.  His was a respectably-sized brewery.  In 1879 he sold 614 barrels.

In 1861 he married Ursula Menli, herself an immigrant from Switzerland, and together they had seven children.

He died on May 26, 1893 at age 59.
